The team consists of a pool of highly-trained professionals in all disciplines including registered acupuncturists remedial massage therapists, health and fitness experts, personal trainers, martial arts practitioners, yoga therapists, nutritionists and cooks. Each is enthusiastic, non-judgmental and trained in Jost’s approach to recovery. Below are some members of our core team.

About Jost Sauer

Jost has a Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture), Diploma in Oriental Massage, Certificates in Structural Balancing and Sports Injury Management and has been working as a therapist since 1991. He is an APHRA registered practitioner.

Jost lectured in traditional Chinese Medicine for ten years at The Australian College of Chinese Medicine, and continues to guest lecture at universities and colleges nationally and internationally. Jost has run several successful rehab clinics in Australia and has also worked in Los Angeles with high-profile celebrity clients.

Jost is also an ex-addict, dealer and deserter (German National Service) who has written several popular books on new approaches to addiction recovery and he has an international reputation as one of the most radical thinkers in the field.

LEANNE  JOHNSTON

LEANNE JOHNSTON

Adv. Dip Nutritional Medicine, Yoga Australia Accredited Yoga Teacher.

Leanne Johnston is a qualified Nutritional Medicine Practitioner (Cert. Adv. Dip.) and is currently completing an Advanced Diploma in Herbal Medicine. Leanne is also a registered Yoga Therapist (YA Approved) who has been practicing yoga daily for over 10 years.

Leanne’s interest in self-development began in her teens, as a result of depression and from a longing to know ‘more’. This journey accelerated as she explored yoga, meditation, medicinal food and chi-cycle fundamentals as a way to conquer later addictions. As her knowledge and practice deepened, Leanne saw her addictions fall away and an extraordinary life opened up before her.

Leanne has a passion for nourishment and has been catering health retreats, facilitating workshops and retreats, and managing health and wellness retreats since 2009.

SHANE GREGORY

SHANE GREGORY

B.HSc Acupuncture, Dip. Remedial Massage, Cert IV Fitness

Shane is a qualified Personal Trainer, Remedial Massage Therapist and registered Acupuncturist. He is an APHRA registered practitioner. He also sees his past of drug use (ice), psychosis and suicidal depression as useful qualifications for this job. After he quit drugs he was working as personal trainer and massage therapist but was severely depressed and thought he would be never be happy without drugs. By the time he met Jost in 2007, he felt he was a lost cause. After implementing Jost’s Chi-cycle system and radical recovery ideas into his life, everything changed.

Shane travelled the world, gained additional qualifications, became a registered acupuncturist, conquered his demons and laid it all out for the world to see on his blog, and began specialising in addiction recovery work. Shane is a now a ‘chi junkie’, practicing yoga, tai-chi, chi-gung and pumping weights daily. Not only is he happy and high but also gets to live out the dreams he discovered on drugs.

ANNIE HEWITT

Annie is a three-time World Champion Natural Bodybuilder, a Gold-medal winning elite athlete, an Olympic Coach, fitness expert and an acclaimed motivational speaker. Annie holds three Australian Powerlifting records and has a high international profile and certification in Performance Nutrition. She is also a Level 3 Registered Fitness Professional.

As well as 3 world Natural Body Building and Australian/Oceanic Weightlifting titles, Annie has over 20 years experience. This enables her to design and implement dynamic health and movement programs.

IAN CAMERON

IAN CAMERON

Remedial massage therapist AAMT, Tai Chi Instructor WTBA

Ian is a qualified Tai Chi instructor, martial artist, boxer, remedial massage therapist and musician. As a boy Ian had a passion for martial arts, music and boxing. He won his first Australian boxing title aged fourteen and by seventeen had begun a professional boxing career. At twenty two a chance encounter with a Tai Chi teacher began his journey of healing and learning.

Ian has now been practising and teaching Tai chi and Qigong (systems of movement, martial arts and meditation) for thirty years. Ian understands that the dynamics of martial arts and the power of healing go hand in hand. Ian qualified as a remedial massage therapist in the early nineties and has worked in acupuncture clinics, for a dance company in Western Australia as well as running a therapeutic massage business for the resort industry on the sunshine coast for ten years.

An accomplished musician, Ian treasures the healing power of sound and enjoys passing on his skills and knowledge with passion, humour and insight.

BEN RISBY-JONES

Dip. App. Sci.(Naturopathy)

Ben is a trained naturopath, massage therapist, herbalist, energy worker, healer, and facilitator.Upon graduating with a naturopathy degree in 1995, Ben set out to expand upon his classical naturopathic studies as an intrepid traveler on the spiritual path. He was most interested in spirituality and as a naturopath, specifically, spiritual healing. Some of his teachers were Maori, American Indian, and Siberian shamans. Ben created the Life Essences, a tool for enlightenment during his journey.

Ben has been working as a therapist and workshop facilitator in Europe and America for the last eight years, using his Life Essences as a tool for his clients’ own self-awareness and for practitioner training. He has been acknowledged as a truly gifted healer. Most recently, he has developed an eye-gazing modality where clients consciously experience an ever-increasing free flow of energy. It has always been Ben’s vision to share his property, Gaia Spirit Retreat, as a place for the development of human potential.
